Description
This much-loved mountain lodge features a large comfortable living space with soaring ceilings, wood floors, beautiful wood trim, high-quality leather sofas, comfortable chairs, a 25-foot stone fireplace, and a large-screen HDTV, VCR, DVD, and surround sound. There is room for a large group to gather or for a smaller group to stretch out in warmth and comfort around a crackling wood-burning fire.
The recently remodeled, fully equipped kitchen with stainless appliances and granite countertops is a chef's delight--completely supplied with all the cookware and dishes you need for a simple meal or grand holiday feast. The spacious kitchen and dining room offer another stone fireplace (this one with gas logs for convenience) and seating for 16 (8 at the dining table, 4 at the bar, and 4 at the breakfast table).
Outside there are three covered decks running the length of the home where you can enjoy outdoor dining, reading, relaxing, gathering around the propane firepit, and relishing our cool mountain climate. The decks overlook the lush forest of evergreens and a variety of deciduous trees.
The whole family will stay entertained with six televisions, a game room with air hockey & shuffleboard, high-speed Internet, WiFi, and a six-person hot tub! There is a home office area where you can work from home or handle homework, edit video, or enjoy some gaming on your laptop.
The main floor master suite has a king-sized bed and a large full bathroom. Upstairs, the family suite has two rooms, one with a king-sized bed and full bath, and a second bedroom with 2 twins plus a youth bed (toys included!)
The lower level has a large king suite with a sitting room and smart TV, and bath, plus another bedroom with a queen bed and adjoining hall bath. Between the bedrooms, a large game room has air hockey, shuffleboard, darts, bar sink/small fridge plus a gas heater to warm things up! The utility room with a full-sized washer and dryer is also located on this level.
Both the main level and lower level have multiple access points to the three wonderful covered decks running the length of the house. On the lower level, step out and enjoy the six-person hot tub, swing, and additional seating overlooking the forested setting. The main level has both a covered front porch and back porch as well as an open deck off the great room. Enjoy covered dining outdoors and prepare your meal on the top-notch stainless propane grill (two tanks of propane provided). Take your pick of rocking chairs, swing, dining table, or chairs and, if need be, turn on the outdoor propane heater.
AND, Deer View Lodge is very pet friendly with steps on the lower level to access a good-sized dog run.
Only minutes from either Blowing Rock or Boone, the setting is private yet within a friendly mountain subdivision, so you are always within walking distance of neighbors. Access is paved up until the last half mile, where a narrow, one-way paved road turns onto a gently sloped gravel road that meanders to the front door of the lodge. A four-wheel drive vehicle is necessary for winter access when weather conditions dictate that guests prepare for snow and/or ice-covered roads.
Pet Rules:
Pets allowed with approval - a maximum of 2 dogs. There are no weight requirements.
Your dog(s) must be fully housetrained and current on vaccinations and Flea & Tick preventative; cannot be left loose or unattended at any time; must be crated if you leave them home alone, crate(s) not supplied; pets are not allowed on the furniture and you must clean up any hair in the home upon your departure; Please make sure to clean up the yard after your dogs; if there is a hot tub, dogs are not allowed in it. The non refundable pet fee and tax is a total of $112.75 per dog.

We loved the house. With 4 couples we each had our own bathroom and the great room was spacious enough for us to hang out comfortably. The house was fully stocked with plenty of towels, extra blankets, and kitchen utensils/small appliances. The house is close to Boone and Blowing Rock but also provide privacy as well. We loved watching the deer.

We had a wonderful time at Deer View Lodge. The house was comfortable, clean, well stocked, and a pleasure to be at. We loved playing air hockey, sitting on the back deck, soaking in the hot tub and watching a movie during the rain. Great location -- peaceful and yet convenient to Boone, Blowing Rock and the Parkway.

Only constructive feedback I would have is the uneven cooling system. In order to get upstairs loft area cool enough to sleep, it caused the lower basement level to be too cold 64 degrees. They are random large black ants particularly in kitchen

We had a great time - great den on the main level! We enjoyed playing Scrabble. :) Very comfortable king size bed and beautiful bathroom. The house is in a great location. It has a nice kitchen and plenty of room to spread out. Very comfortable lodging option. Nice bathrooms too. My only negative comment is that the water had a metallic taste so we bought bottled water. We've stayed at Little Bear several times and never noticed a metallic taste with the water there.

We had an awesome weekend!! Our rental "Deer View Lodge" was incredible!! We were a group of four couples. We all agree that none of us have ever had such a beautifully designed, well-stocked rental before. The place was immaculate. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare and serve a beautiful meal, the great room had enough well made, comfortable furnishings for a large group to gather, the back porch also provided enough seating for a large group and the outdoor heater made an evening on the deck comfortable for all. The bathrooms were all stocked with plenty of clean towels and the beds were all comfortable!! We will definitely be planning another trip to this awesome place!! Please let the owners know that their attention to detail did not go unnoticed!!! :) Thank you!
